Summary: With a global mandate, the Product Manager (PM) is a subject matter expert who will be reporting to the Director of Product Management. The PM will act as a liaison between engineering, internal sales, customers, external associations, marketing, and the factory to ensure that product information is communicated effectively. As a key member of the Mircom Product team, the Product Manager maintains a balance between business and quantitative product support. The role requires knowledge of the product life cycle including: market research and requirements development, engineering design specifications, solution development, testing, support, and training. The Product Manager is majorly responsible for the results of their line of business (Fire, Security or Building Automation) and product portfolio and should develop strategies to grow their portfolio revenues through geographic or customer expansion and other efforts including training, promotion, bundling, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: Manage the portfolio scorecard, reporting on revenue, margins, growth trends, key wins/losses, quality reports, swot analysis. Manage the product roadmap for enhancements, extensions, and rationalizations Make recommendations to executive team regarding product pricing, market placement, and promotion Market analysis of competitor offerings identifying any major benefits or gaps Work with design team to modify product hardware, software, firmware Work with sales teams to position product and support bids and quotations Perform system inquiries, data mining and product analysis in ERP (Dynamics AX) and Power BI Handle daily inquiries from customers and internal departments regarding product issues (approvals, variations, pricing, cost, model numbers). Communicate new and current product features to Sales and Professional Services. Produce regular Revenue/Sales Performance Dashboards for the Product Management team. Gather requirements from customers, prospective customers, internal sales and professional services. Assist Product Managers with various elements of Product Lifecycle Management. (Development, Introduction, Growth, Maturity, Decline and End of Life). Define product requirements by researching existing client needs, competitive products, industry trends and utilizing Mircom subject matter expert knowledge. Understand the competitive marketplace and publish tools to help Sales position products. Provide analytical insights to help drive the product development roadmap. May represent Product Management on cross-functional teams for Process improvements and other initiatives such as SKU Simplification, new product launches or cost reduction Participate in analyzing and designing new product features and enhancements. Requirements and Skills: 5+ Years in a full-time job capacity as Product Manager or similar role Knowledge of relevant Building technology, Fire Alarm, Access Control and BMS products is a strong asset. Knowledge of relevant codes and standards including UL, NFPA, FM, CSA, FCC Engineering Degree is an asset. Very Strong written communication skills. Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and third parties. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Visio). Microsoft Power BI and ERP experience are assets Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal. Ability to write clear, concise reports and documentation. Strong oral communication and presentation skills. Solid critical thinking, analytical and problem resolution skills to analyze trends and impacts, identify options and implications, and propose practical solutions. Ability to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
