Advisor, Academic-Industry Partnerships — University of Ottawa University, Eastern Ontario Full-time temporary employment — One (1) year contract Mitacs Business Development team members are the bridge between academia and industry. We help businesses, not-for profit organizations, and other organizations solve their R&D challenges by building partnerships with academia and using world-class talent from Canadian educational institutions. We are at the forefront of marketing Mitacs programs to businesses, professors, and students. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with members of Mitacs Business Development, Research, and Programs teams to deliver high quality programming Work closely with stakeholders at University of Ottawa to fully understand the needs of researchers and students, find industry and not-for-profit opportunities, and identify the best programs to capitalize on the research opportunities uncovered. Speak with industry partners to determine their R&D needs, connect them with specialists in academia, and advise them on the best programs to leverage the research opportunities uncovered Create and maintain a network of partners and clients in industry in Ottawa and surrounding regions and academia Provide support to the Business Development team as needed Provide business development support to all Mitacs programs as needed Provide business development and student engagement support SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: MSc or PhD, or an equivalent combination of education and research experience Bilingual – fluent in both English and French is a requirement for this position Excellent communication skills Excellent presentation skills Highly energetic and enthusiastic mindset Ability to adapt to priority changes. Hiring Range: $65,325 - $84,550 Hiring and Salary Range Transparency Typically, employees are hired, transferred, or promoted within the salary range, specifically between the minimum and midpoint in the hiring range. The salary range refers to the range of base salaries for a given position, encompassing the minimum and maximum amounts. The midpoint of the range is positioned approximately halfway between the minimum and maximum, indicating a fully qualified employee with comprehensive job knowledge and experience for the role Only in rare and exceptional circumstances, where a candidate has the experience, skills, and expertise that far exceed those required for the position, would we consider paying above the hiring range for this role.
