Position Description The Lead Hand provides day-to-day leadership and support within a production department, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role coordinates team activities, supports production schedules, resolves workflow issues, and works closely with Engineering, Production Support, Quality, and Purchasing to meet operational goals. Morning Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm - Monday to Friday Afternoon Shift 3:00 pm to - 11:30 pm - Monday to Friday Key Responsibilities Lead and support a team of up to 15 production employees. Coordinate daily work activities to meet production schedules and targets. Work with Production Support and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues and review drawings, work travellers, and production plans. Coordinate material requirements with Purchasing and support inventory control activities, including cycle counts. Monitor product quality and ensure inspections are completed to company standards. Partner with the Quality team to address non-conformances, communicate quality alerts, and support corrective actions. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, productivity, and workflow. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and best practices. Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed and participate in toolbox talks and safety initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and project success. Assist with employee training, performance feedback, and disciplinary processes as required. Support material handling activities, including receiving, stocking, distributing materials, and operating forklifts or pallet jacks where qualified. Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards. Required Education & Qualifications Previous manufacturing or production experience, preferably in a lead hand, senior assembler, or supervisory role. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Experience coordinating production schedules, materials, and workflow. Modine is an equal opportunity employer.
