Job Title: Data Engineer Project: Digital Regulatory Assurance System Location: Remote within Canada, with occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton Work Hours: 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM Alberta Time, Monday to Friday Role Summary: Looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support the Digital Regulatory Assurance System project. This role will help modernize regulatory data systems by building reliable data pipelines, integrating data into Azure platforms, improving data quality, and creating analytics-ready datasets for reporting, compliance monitoring, and decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Design and build secure, scalable data solutions on Microsoft Azure. Develop data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Delta Lake. Integrate data from systems such as ServiceNow, geospatial platforms, APIs, and other sources. Use Python and SQL for data cleansing, transformation, enrichment, and analytics. Build data models and semantic layers for reporting and advanced analytics. Support data governance, metadata management, security, lineage, and access controls. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and workflows. Use AI and automation tools to improve coding, testing, documentation, and data engineering processes. Mandatory Skills: Post-secondary education in Computer Science or a related field. 5+ years of Python and SQL data engineering experience. 4+ years of Git/GitHub experience. 3+ years of Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and scalable data pipeline experience. 3+ years of Azure infrastructure, services, and authentication experience. 3+ years designing analytics-ready data platforms. 2+ years of data governance, security, and metadata management experience. 1+ year using AI-driven code generation or automation tools. Nice to Have: Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, REST APIs, ETL pipelines, message queue technologies, ServiceNow, and Government of Alberta cloud experience. Additional Details: The work must be performed from within Canada. The role is mainly remote, but onsite meetings in Edmonton may be required up to 3-4 times per month. The resource must provide their own computer compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop. Background check is required.
