Role Description The Senior Fund Accountant, Private Markets is a full-time, on-site role based in Halifax, NS. This role is responsible for the daily and periodic accounting for private market funds, including the preparation and review of NAV calculations, financial statements, and investor reporting. The Senior Fund Accountant will reconcile portfolio activity, maintain general ledgers, and ensure accurate valuation of investments in line with applicable accounting standards and fund documentation. The role includes coordinating audit and regulatory reporting processes, responding to client inquiries, and partnering with internal teams to resolve complex accounting and operational issues. The individual will also support process improvements, contribute to the implementation of best practices, and assist in mentoring and guiding junior team members. Qualifications Strong fund accounting and finance skills, with experience in private markets or alternative investments. Proficiency in preparing and reviewing financial statements and financial reporting for investment funds. Hands-on experience with NAV calculation and reconciliation, including understanding of valuation methodologies. Sound knowledge of accounting principles and standards relevant to investment funds (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP). Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy under deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team and engage with clients. Experience in a global financial services or fund administration environment is highly beneficial. Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Investran is an asset. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; professional designation (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an asset.
