Construction Estimator Location: Richmond, BC Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 (Negotiable depending on experience) Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support Industrial, Institutional, and Commercial construction projects across British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented estimating professional with General Contracting experience, strong construction knowledge, and the ability to prepare accurate, competitive estimates across design-build, fixed price, and construction management delivery models. Must Haves 3+ years of estimating experience within construction, preferably in a General Contracting environment. Experience estimating Industrial, Institutional, or Commercial construction projects. Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents. Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, trades, and project delivery. Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, budgets, tender submissions, and cost estimates. Ability to solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing. Strong Excel skills and experience using estimating or construction software. High attention to detail with strong accuracy in pricing, scope review, and bid preparation. Strong communication skills and ability to work with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients. Nice to Haves Experience with design-build, fixed price, and construction management project delivery models. Procore experience is a strong asset. Experience estimating projects across British Columbia, Alberta, or Manitoba. Knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems is considered an asset. Familiarity with CCDC contracts, tendering processes, and subcontractor procurement. Experience with conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, and cost planning. Post-secondary education in construction management, engineering, architecture, quantity surveying, or a related field. Gold Seal Certification or professional estimating designation is considered an asset. Responsibilities Prepare accurate construction estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for Industrial, Institutional, and Commercial projects. Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents to understand project scope and requirements. Complete quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions. Solicit pricing from subcontractors and suppliers and ensure bid coverage across all required scopes of work. Review subcontractor and supplier quotations for accuracy, exclusions, inclusions, and alignment with project requirements. Identify scope gaps, risks, opportunities, and potential cost-saving measures during the estimating process. Prepare bid forms, tender packages, clarifications, qualifications, and supporting estimate documentation. Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and internal teams to support pre-construction planning and project handoff. Assist with budgeting, conceptual estimating, value engineering, and cost planning during early project stages. Maintain and update estimating files, trade pricing, subcontractor contacts, historical cost data, and bid documentation. Participate in site visits, tender meetings, and client or consultant discussions as required. Support subcontractor procurement and help ensure pricing is complete, competitive, and aligned with project expectations. Track tender deadlines, addenda, and submission requirements to ensure bids are completed accurately and on time. Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates, cost databases, and bid strategies.
