The position is classified as a RÉ-05 (from $77,281 to $102,535 per annum - under review). A list of qualified people may be compiled and may be used for additional temporary or indeterminate positions. JOB OVERVIEW In this role, you will provide expert ecological and environmental guidance to support the planning, design, implementation and monitoring of National Capital Commission (NCC) construction and future development initiatives, ensuring activities and decisions comply with federal, provincial and regional environmental legislation, policies, regulatory requirements and contract documents. You will contribute to the protection and stewardship of natural resources by assessing environmental effects, recommending mitigation strategies, and supporting permitting, compliance and conservation initiatives, while delivering scientific analysis and technical advice. Working collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, contractors and regulators, you will help ensure initiatives are carried out in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in biology, ecology, environmental studies, environmental science or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. EXPERIENCE Five (05) to eight (08) years of experience working as a biologist in natural resource management, ecological or biological consulting, environmental impact assessment, applied research, and field work. KNOWLEDGE • Of conducting ecological studies and field work • Of pre-, syn- and post-construction-phase inspection and monitoring protocols • Of federal and provincial environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks • Of ecological and biological geospatial data analysis tools • Of the NCC and its mandate, mission, policies and role in project oversight in the National Capital Region ABILITIES • To manage, update, interpret, manipulate and analyze natural resources and environmental data, ecological information, and produce accurate maps, figures and spatial products • To assess on-site environmental issues and environmental effects, analyze field findings, interpret monitoring results, evaluate the feasibility of permit or approval conditions, and determine appropriate implementation strategies. • To investigate, research, analyze and interpret technical and regulatory information to recommend practical and compliant solutions throughout project development and execution. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace. • The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment.

Exigences
