NEBA HUT’EN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION Position Title: Finance Controller Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Employment Type: Full-Time POSITION SUMMARY The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial management, accounting operations, reporting systems, and internal controls of the Development Corporation and its related business entities. The Controller ensures the integrity of financial information, supports strategic decision-making, maintains regulatory compliance, and assists in advancing the long-term economic development goals of the Nation. The Controller works closely with leadership, management, external auditors, funding agencies, and corporate partners to support sustainable business growth, accountability, and financial transparency across all corporate activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Management & Reporting Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, reconciliations, and general ledger management. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Develop and maintain consolidated financial reporting for multiple corporate entities and joint ventures. Monitor cash flow, investments, debt servicing, and working capital requirements. Assist leadership with financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term financial planning. Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project funding, grants, investments, and capital expenditures. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic business decisions. Corporate & Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, taxation requirements, corporate policies, and reporting obligations. Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external auditors and regulatory agencies. Maintain effective internal controls, financial policies, and risk management procedures. Support corporate governance processes and reporting requirements to Boards of Directors and Chief and Council as required. Ensure timely filing of corporate tax returns, payroll remittances, GST filings, and other statutory requirements. Operational & Strategic Support Support the development and implementation of financial systems, policies, and operational procedures. Assist in evaluating new business opportunities, partnerships, acquisitions, and investments. Participate in strategic planning and corporate restructuring initiatives. Provide financial oversight for capital projects, economic development initiatives, and business operations. Support negotiations and reporting related to financing agreements, loans, and investment partnerships. Leadership & Administration Supervise and mentor finance and administrative staff. Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Support training and capacity development within the organization. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial and corporate information. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive financial management or accounting experience. Experience working with development corporations, Indigenous organizations, government funding, or multi-entity corporate structures is considered an asset. Experience with joint ventures, capital projects, and investment reporting is preferred. Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of Stellat’en First Nation culture and economic priorities, values and practices. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, budgeting, and internal controls. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to prepare detailed financial reports and present financial information clearly. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Additional Requirements: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License may be required. Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, or corporate activities. Criminal Record Check may be required. COMPENSATION Salary will range from $115,000 – $135,000 / year.
