Job Summary: The VFX Supervisor will oversee all things CG on the project, including the creative and technical execution of the film across all CG departments from assets through final delivery. They will partner with the Technical Supervisor to define the workflows and technical solutions to successfully achieve the creative requirements and artistic goals of the production. They will work with Department Heads, Technical and Creative leadership teams to ensure that story and design assets are functioning from a technical standpoint and that CG work meets the desired visual quality and consistency. Our ideal candidate blends deep technical knowledge with applied hands‑on CG experience. They are a natural problem solver and a clear communicator who can collaborate effectively across creative, technical, and production disciplines. What You’ll Do Partner with the Director and Production Designer to implement their creative vision, providing technical oversight on CG complexity and feasibility to deliver the project on schedule and budget. Guide and align Heads of Department and Supervisors (Animation, Characters, Environments, CFX, Effects, Layout, Lighting, Compositing, etc.) in their approach to achieving the Director’s vision for the film Review CG work in progress from various departments to ensure the creative brief has been met, the work is on‑style, and that creative and technical standards are upheld Help define and oversee CG workflows and technical solutions in partnership with the Technical Supervisor and pipeline/TD teams Work flexibly and with a positive attitude to troubleshoot and address creative and technical notes from filmmakers and Production, providing practical solutions Provide an open dialogue with Production Management on any potential roadblocks, bottlenecks, or concerns in delivering CG work on time and at quality Keep up to date with relevant tools, software, and workflows, and advocate for their effective use on the show Collaborate with grace, humility, inclusion, and open‑mindedness What You’ll Need 5+ years of leadership in CG production supervision (e.g., VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, or comparable roles) Proven leadership on CG animated projects across feature films, series, animated shorts, and/or video games Expert knowledge in multiple CG disciplines and workflows including Modeling, Texturing/Surfacing, Rigging, Animation, Lighting, Shading, Compositing, and general FX Expert working knowledge of industry‑standard 3D and imaging software including Maya, Houdini, Arnold, Nuke, and related packages Samples and/or credits demonstrating excellence in CG and FX development and integrated, production‑level CG work Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across creative, technical, and production teams Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills; able to discern priorities and find efficient workflows within time constraints This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum requirement of 3 days a week in the office). At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $280,000 - $420,000 CAD. This reflects total compensation; we do not have bonuses.
