Job Title: Machine Learning Specialist Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (Remote) Employment Type: Contract About the Role NetworkPedia is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Specialist to support strategic Data Projects for a Public-sector Data Centre of Excellence. This role focuses on designing and developing machine learning models, AI-driven analytics, and data products that enable evidence-based decision-making across government ministries. The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to build scalable analytical solutions, develop predictive models, and support the public-sector Data Strategy through responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, train, and deploy machine learning models for government data initiatives. Analyze and prepare large datasets for predictive and prescriptive analytics. Develop data collection, cleansing, normalization, and feature engineering processes. Build AI/ML models that support policy development and public service improvements. Apply statistical modeling techniques including clustering, classification, regression, and predictive analytics. Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and project teams to identify ML opportunities. Integrate trained machine learning models into enterprise applications. Develop AI governance, transparency, auditing, and accountability mechanisms. Produce analytical reports, dashboards, and business insights. Document business and technical metadata for analytical products. Provide technical leadership and mentor project teams on ML best practices. Ensure ML solutions comply with privacy legislation and ethical AI principles. Mandatory Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field. Experience using statistical and programming languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.). Experience building analytical and quantitative models. Experience preparing data for predictive and prescriptive modeling. Experience with data science methodologies, statistical analysis, and data mining techniques. Hands-on experience developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Machine Learning (ML) solutions. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Experience working within cross-functional teams. Preferred Skills Data sharing, data linkage, de-identification, metadata management, and privacy. Experience integrating data from multiple enterprise data sources. Dashboard development using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools. Statistical modeling techniques including: K-Means Clustering Hierarchical Clustering Logistic Regression Decision Trees Data engineering and data product development. Government or public sector data experience. Experience working with large government datasets. AI governance and ethical AI implementation.
