Role Description The Staff Accountant is a full-time, remote role responsible for supporting the financial operations of the New American Funding Capo-DiBug Team Northeast. Day-to-day tasks include recording and reconciling financial transactions, preparing journal entries, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities. The role involves maintaining accurate general ledger accounts, reviewing expense reports and invoices, and supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. The Staff Accountant will help prepare internal financial reports, assist with budget tracking, and collaborate with leadership to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. This position also includes responding to internal inquiries, supporting audits, and contributing to continuous improvement of accounting workflows and controls in a remote environment. Qualifications Strong general accounting skills, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools. Knowledge of GAAP and basic tax and regulatory compliance principles relevant to mortgage or financial services. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense management processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate remotely across teams and departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA track, CMA) are a plus. Prior experience in mortgage, banking, or financial services accounting is beneficial.
