Compliance Legal Counsel | In-House | Vaughan, ON Full Time, permanent, In-office role We're hiring a Compliance Legal Counsel for our Global manufacturing client. This is a unique in-house opportunity that blends compliance and corporate/contractual legal work — ideal for a lawyer looking to broaden their skillset while gaining direct exposure to senior leadership. The Role Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, you'll work across compliance program oversight, policy writing, documentation, contract review, and compliance investigations. The company operates globally, so you'll navigate varying regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions and business units. International travel is required approximately 3x/year for audits. Key Responsibilities Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, DPAs, SaaS agreements, and vendor terms Support compliance program development, policy documentation, training, and internal investigations Assist in audit planning, execution, and reporting across global business units Contribute to privacy and data protection initiatives, including GDPR-baselined programs and AI/technology governance Support Regional and Local Compliance Officer frameworks, including training and escalation processes Maintain compliance registers, governance records, and action trackers Prepare materials for management and board-level compliance reporting What We're Looking For 2–5 years of experience in legal, compliance, commercial contracting, privacy, or a related corporate function Called to the bar (any jurisdiction) - asset LLM or compliance certification (RIMS CRM, GRCP) - asset Experience with commercial agreements, DPAs, cybersecurity clauses, and risk-allocation language Comfortable navigating regulatory ambiguity across multiple jurisdictions Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills German proficiency - desirable Ideal Backgrounds In-house legal/compliance at a bank or regulated financial institution Private practice at a law firm (this role offers a meaningful step toward better work-life balance)
