We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented EHS Specialist to specalize in Electrical Safety to join our Environment, Health and Safety Team. The EHS Specialist – Electrical Safety supports NextStar Energy’s health and safety program with a primary focus on electrical safety. This position provides technical support to identify, assess, and control electrical hazards across manufacturing, maintenance, construction, and commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, combined with an understanding of workplace health and safety. Responsibilities: * Serve as a technical resource for electrical safety. * Conduct electrical safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments. * Support safe energization, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and electrical work. * Support the Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs. * Identify shock, arc-flash, and hazardous energy risks and recommend appropriate controls. * Review electrical work practices, procedures, PPE requirements, and safe work methods. * Support electrical incident and near-miss investigations. * Work with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Construction, OEMs, and contractors to address electrical safety concerns. * Support electrical safety training and employee awareness. * Assist with general EHS inspections, investigations, risk assessments, and safety initiatives as required. Minimum Requirements: * Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related electrical discipline. * Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and electrical hazards. * Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, or electrical environment. * Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and technical documentation. * Familiarity with Ontario industrial health and safety regulations, including Ontario Regulation 851 – Industrial Establishments. * Willingness to support broader industrial health and safety initiatives, programs, inspections, and continuous improvement activities as required. * Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required to support operations. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with CSA Z462 – Workplace Electrical Safety. * Knowledge of CSA Z460 – Control of Hazardous Energy and LOTO principles. * Knowledge of Ontario electrical and occupational health and safety requirements. * Experience with arc-flash, shock hazard assessments, electrical PPE, and electrical safe work practices. * Experience with industrial electrical distribution, automated manufacturing equipment, commissioning, or energization. * P.Eng., C.E.T., or other relevant electrical/safety designation is an asset.
