NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. The Role You will supervise and motivate Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) and Assistant Practitioners (APs) working within specimen reception, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, timely, and cost-efficient pre-analytical service for the Biochemistry Laboratories in South Glasgow. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: Permanent, Full-time Shift Pattern- Monday – Sunday, variable hours between 08:00 – 20:00 Base location - Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Key Responsibilities Supervise and support HCSWs and APs in specimen reception. Ensure the provision of a high-quality, timely, and cost-efficient pre-analytical service. Organise staff and workloads to maintain an efficient departmental workflow. Prioritise urgent requests to meet service demands. Balance competing demands between routine and specialist laboratory areas. Use technical knowledge and skills to advise and support staff members. Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job: HNC, SVQ Level 3, SCQF Level 7, or equivalent qualification in a science subject. Additional theoretical or applied training to diploma-equivalent level. In-depth knowledge of specimen reception duties and procedures. Strong technical knowledge and practical skills relevant to laboratory reception services.
