Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer North West Cardio Diagnostics Ltd. Calgary, Alberta Full-Time, Part Time, Casual About North West Cardio Diagnostics North West Cardio Diagnostics Ltd. is an established, independent cardiac diagnostic imaging provider with two clinic locations in Calgary. Since 1998, we have focused on delivering high-quality echocardiography and vascular diagnostic services in a professional, patient-centred environment. Our studies are interpreted by experienced cardiologists with advanced echocardiography expertise, and our sonographers work closely with a supportive clinical and administrative team. We value technical excellence, strong patient care, teamwork, reliability, and continuous improvement. We are seeking a full-time Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer to join our team. The successful candidate will receive structured orientation and training prior to assuming a full patient schedule. Qualified candidates from outside Calgary are encouraged to apply. Position Summary The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality adult transthoracic echocardiograms and related diagnostic procedures in accordance with professional standards, established protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, strong technical skills, excellent patient care, and the ability to work collaboratively within a busy outpatient diagnostic environment. Key Responsibilities Confirm patient identity, examination requirements, relevant clinical history, and patient preparation before beginning each study. Explain the examination to the patient and provide professional, compassionate care throughout the appointment. Perform complete adult transthoracic echocardiograms in accordance with NWCD protocols and professional practice standards. Recognize significant or urgent findings and follow established escalation procedures when required. Monitor patients during diagnostic procedures and respond appropriately to symptoms or changes in condition. Evaluate acquired images to ensure that sufficient diagnostic information has been obtained. Complete accurate preliminary worksheets and reporting using GE ViewPoint. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality. Perform required quality-control activities and participate in peer review and quality-improvement processes. Follow infection prevention, equipment-cleaning, workplace safety, and emergency-response procedures. Identify equipment concerns and ensure that required equipment checks and maintenance processes are completed. Work collaboratively with cardiologists, sonographers, medical office assistants, referring providers, and other members of the healthcare team. Assist at either NWCD Calgary location when operationally required. Perform other related duties within the scope of the position. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program. Current certification in cardiac sonography through Sonography Canada and/or an equivalent recognized credential. Current registration or eligibility for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory body. Current CPR certification. Minimum of one year of independent adult echocardiography experience is preferred; strong new graduates may also be considered. Experience using GE Vivid ultrasound equipment, including the GE Vivid E90, or E95, is considered an asset. Experience with GE ViewPoint is considered an asset. Ability to independently perform complete adult transthoracic echocardiograms. Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, Doppler principles, and current echocardiography standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time-management abilities. Demonstrated commitment to patient care, professionalism, confidentiality, and teamwork. Ability to work at both NWCD locations within Calgary.
