Position Summary Director, Clinical Diagnostics (Medical imaging & Laboratory Medicine programs) Your goal in this position is to provide transformational leadership to the Medical Imaging and Laboratory Medicine Programs that embraces evidence-based care within the framework of the mission, vision, values and strategic direction of the organization. In partnership with the Chief and Medical Director, your leadership will extend by ensuring the highest quality of care and patient and family experience within each program. In addition, you will provide direct leadership, management, coaching and mentoring to the management team within the various programs across multi-sites and will support innovation, and enable a culture of learning, diversity and inclusion. You will be responsible for the physical, financial, and human resources for your portfolio and will ensure the clinical and regulatory compliance of the teams. You are self-directed and are able to deal with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities. You have exceptional organizational, verbal and written communication, interpersonal and strong customer service skills. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families. On a practical level, you will Work in partnership with the Chief and Medical Director in the delivery of safe, high-quality care within the portfolio and across multi-sites of the organization Provide primary leadership in managing the program’s physical, financial and Human Resources consistent with the Mission, Strategic Plan and Goals and Objectives of the Hospital Foster an environment that supports creativity and innovation in the delivery of patient care Facilitate inter-professional collaboration to enable seamless patient care Maintain current knowledge and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, hospital policies, accreditation guidelines, risk management and occupational health and safety requirements Facilitate effective communication across the portfolio, with internal stakeholders which include other Programs and Departments in the Hospital, the Hospital Foundation, and with key external stakeholders Represent the programs and the Hospital externally Participate as an active member of the Hospital’s leadership team Facilitate multi-disciplinary collaboration in a shared governance model to ensure optimal People-Centred Care Develop an appropriate organizational structure and clinical governance within the program to ensure co-ordination of direct care providers and support staff to achieve strategic and operational plans Collaborate with teams across the Hospital and external service providers and agencies to ensure coordination for optimal patient outcomes and service delivery Identify and actively develops opportunities to attract financial resources to the program Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant field Regulated Health Professional with current College registration preferred Minimum 5 years’ progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting required Minimum 5 years’ of healthcare management at Director level preferred Minimum of 7 years’ experience in clinical diagnostics or related fields preferred Experience in multi-site and unionized setting Demonstrated critical thinking and an excellent understanding of the nature and complexity of issues in the provision of clinical diagnostic services Solid understanding of best practices in clinical diagnostic field Strong leadership, interpersonal and conceptual skills Demonstrated ability to lead change effectively (transformational leadership) with exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), team building across the hospital and health care system Financially astute and responsible in the management of budgets Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others Strong management, program planning, contract management and human resources management skills Solid understanding of Human Resource management, policies and procedures Ability to foster motivation and innovation within the program What We Offer Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals.
