The Social Media Coordinator plays a key role in supporting NAIT’s JR Shaw School of Business (JRSSB) social media channels by developing and executing social media content that engages students, showcases programming and student life, and recognizes sponsors and partners. Reporting directly to the Social Media Strategist, and working closely with JRSSB staff and representatives, this role creates and manages content across multiple platforms, with a focus on creation and scheduling. A hybrid role, the Social Media Coordinator combines independent, creative work with collaboration on campus, and requires flexibility to occasionally work evenings and off campus to cover events, activities, and content plans. Key Responsibilities: Create social media content across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok) to engage our audiences and strengthen NAIT’s social media presence. A high focus on short-form video content. Schedule content using Sprout Social. Collaborate on a shared content calendar outlining planned content in advance. Work within the social media team and contribute to social media efforts across campus through collaborative exercises. Monitor analytics and engagement data to evaluate content effectiveness. Ensure all content aligns with NAIT brand standards, social media policies, and privacy regulations. Provide occasional evening support to cover events and activities. Manage the Mawji Centre’s monthly newsletter. Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated content creation skill with a focus on short-form video. Ability to adapt to evolving social media trends, algorithms, and digital marketing techniques. Skilled in writing and tailoring messaging for diverse audiences across multiple platforms. Strong knowledge of major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X). Knowledge of tools such as Adobe Express, CapCut, Sprout Social, and the Microsoft 365 suite. Strong time management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to tone and brand voice. Knowledge of sponsor recognition practices and effective ways to highlight partnerships. Knowledge of newsletter creation platforms (Campaigner, Mailchimp) Qualifications: Completion of a certificate or diploma in business, communications, design, content creation, or other related fields. Experience creating digital content (portfolio or examples of work required). Ability to create content in real-time using an iPhone. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences. Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities in a part-time role. Knowledge of privacy regulations (FOIP, POPA, ATIA) and institutional brand standards related to digital communications. Classification – Administrative Support II This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement. Remuneration Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus 12% in lieu of statutory holidays and vacation pay.
