Reporting to the Dean, Mining, Trades, Technology, and Apprenticeship, the Shop Technician will provide assistance to instructors in coordinating day-to-day operations. What You Will Be Doing Coordinate day-to-day operations of Trades laboratories and shop facilities supporting motive power, millwright, welding, and apprenticeship programs; Serve as the primary point of contact for shop- and laboratory-related technical inquiries; Provide specialized technical support related to the operation, maintenance, modification, installation, and troubleshooting of (heavy equipment, automotive systems, millwright training equipment, welding equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical trainers), and related instructional resources; Assist faculty with the preparation, setup, and execution of laboratory and shop-based learning activities; Support program delivery by preparing materials, equipment, tools, training aids, and demonstration systems for instructional use; Coordinate and complete projects initiated by faculty to support curriculum delivery, applied learning activities, and apprenticeship training; and Ensure equipment and workspaces are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition. What You Will Need To Be Considered College certificate or diploma, or Apprenticeship in Industrial Mechanics (Millwright), Heavy Equipment, Automotive Service, Welding, or Mechanical Technology, or related/relevant field; Minimum three (3) years of practical experience in a related trade; Red Seal certification in Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Automotive Service Technician, or Welding is considered an asset; and Forklift Certification is considered an asset. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as a team, have clear verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills and time-management skill.
