Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2627-45 Educational Assistant - Art Smith Aviation Academy We are seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Educational Assistant to commence as soon as possible. This assignment involves assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. This position requires a compassionate and energetic individual to work in a team environment. Art Smith Aviation Academy is located within the heart of 4 Wing Cold Lake with approximately 290 students Kindergarten to Grade 9. Art Smith Aviation Academy provides a K to 9 program in English and K to 6 French Immersion program to all families in the Cold Lake area. The school takes pride in being able to focus on the specialized needs of military dependents while supporting students of the area surrounding 4 Wing Cold Lake. Preference Will Be Given To Applicants Who Have Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant Knowledge and experience with behavioural strategies Experience working one-on-one and/or in a group setting Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers Knowledge and experience in alternate communications strategies Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans Training And Skills That Would Be An Asset Include Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training How To Apply Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website, in the employment section. Preference is given to candidates with post-secondary training or experience as an Educational Assistant. Assets include training in SIVA, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, or experience in nursing and rehabilitation.
