Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2627-52 Educational Assistant - Lac La Biche Outreach School We are seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Educational Assistant commencing as soon as possible. This assignment involves assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. This position requires a compassionate and energetic individual to work in a team environment. Northern Lights Public Schools Outreach Programs offer an alternative learning environment for students including art, career and technology courses. We deliver highly individualized programs to students in grades 10 to 12 using a holistic approach to education by considering the student's total needs through counseling, recreating, living skills and work projects. Preference Will Be Give To Who Have Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant Knowledge and experience with behavioural strategies Experience working one-on-one and/or in a group setting Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers Knowledge and experience in alternate communications strategies Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans Training And Skills That Would Be An Asset Include Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training How To Apply Interested applicants are required to create and complete all sections of their portfolio through the 'Apply On-Line' link on our website, in the employment section.
