Northern Mat & Bridge is seeking an Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for supporting financial reporting, month-end accounting processes, tax compliance, and financial operations while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information across the organization. Responsibilities Financial Reporting & General Accounting Reconcile accounts, including bank accounts, in a timely manner. Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries with supporting analysis and documentation. Prepare monthly working papers supporting financial statements. Assist with general ledger oversight and chart of accounts maintenance. Prepare intercompany and elimination entries for various intercompany transactions. Research, analyze, and resolve account variances in a timely manner. Financial Operations Support Provide backup and administrative support to the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) teams. Assist with daily financial workflows and routine financial inquiries. Tax, Audit & Compliance Perform sales tax analysis, processing, filing, and remittance activities. Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing and providing required documentation. Assist with tax reporting and compliance deliverables. Adhere to internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures. Process Improvement & Documentation Participate in the development and maintenance of accounting process documentation. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and standardize accounting processes. Share best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Utilize financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for operational enhancements. Experience Minimum two (2) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a dynamic business environment. Experience in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions is considered an asset. Experience working as part of a collaborative team. Experience with ERP systems. Dynamics NAV experience is preferred; Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, NetSuite, or SAP experience will also be considered. Experience supporting ERP implementations or system transitions is considered an asset. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required. Education Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA designation, or active pursuit of a CPA designation, is considered an asset. Other Skills and Abilities Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and locations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to investigate, identify, and resolve discrepancies independently. Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of financial data. Commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
