We are looking for a Building Caretaker to join our Residential team in Prince George, BC. Reporting to the Property Manager, you are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety and overall condition of a residential property, including common areas, building grounds and surrounding areas. You will perform routine cleaning, groundskeeping, seasonal upkeep and minor maintenance while monitoring property conditions and responding to resident needs and concerns. Through consistent property upkeep, responsive service and safe work practices, Building Caretakers ensure Northview’s properties are clean, well-maintained and welcoming for residents. Responsibilities: Maintain clean, safe, and well-presented common areas, entrances, exits, hallways, stairwells, elevators, common rooms, and other shared spaces Clean and maintain floors, windows, walls, fixtures, and other common area surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods, equipment, and products Maintain building grounds, including landscaped areas, sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and surrounding property Complete seasonal groundskeeping and property upkeep, including gardening, mowing, weeding, litter and debris removal, snow removal, and salting as required Monitor common areas, grounds, and building conditions and promptly identify and report maintenance, safety, cleanliness, or property concerns requiring follow-up Perform minor maintenance and basic property upkeep tasks as required and within the scope of the role, escalating repairs requiring specialized knowledge or trades Assist with the preparation and upkeep of vacant suites and common areas as required Respond to resident questions, concerns, and requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner, escalating issues as appropriate Maintain positive resident relations by providing consistent and helpful customer service and contributing to a welcoming and well-maintained living environment Assist with the delivery and posting of resident notices and other building communications where required Maintain cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment in a safe and orderly condition and communicate replenishment or repair needs Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with Northview’s Health and Safety requirements and internal HSE policies and procedures Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience in building caretaking, janitorial, cleaning, groundskeeping, property maintenance, or a related field an asset Experience working in residential, commercial, multi-unit housing, or other property environments an asset Experience performing general cleaning, building upkeep, grounds maintenance, and minor maintenance tasks Experience providing customer service and interacting professionally with residents, tenants, contractors, and coworkers Experience safely using cleaning products, basic tools, and property maintenance equipment Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, basic building upkeep, and seasonal property maintenance an asset Requirements: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage routine building and property upkeep with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-presented common areas and grounds Strong customer service and communication skills, with a professional, courteous, and approachable manner Ability to safely perform physical duties, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and climbing stairs, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to lift and move materials, supplies, equipment, and other items as required Ability to safely handle and use cleaning products, tools, and equipment in accordance with established procedures Ability to identify and report maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and property condition concerns Ability to respond appropriately to resident concerns and escalate issues when required Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by the property Ability to provide a clear criminal record check free of relevant convictions Benefits: Competitive pay Extended health care including medical, dental, and vision coverage Life insurance, drug coverage, and wellness programs Discounts on rent at Northview properties Vacation Travel Assistance for Northern employees If your background matches the qualifications listed above and you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the communities we serve, please submit your resume in confidence.
