Req ID: 223082Location: Northern Zone, Aberdeen Hospital Department: OPNZ PLM Microbiology PCHAType of Employment: Temporary Hourly FT long-assignment (100%) x 1 Union: CUPE Healthcare PositionPosting Closing Date: 25-Sep-26About the Opportunity The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs analytical tests and procedures offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. The Medical Laboratory Technologist possesses the technical ability and problem-solving skills to perform all tests (both manual and automated) in the clinical and environmental laboratories. Performs laboratory tests with a network of steps and variables according to established protocols and works with little or no supervision in emergency and weekend/night situations. Operates instruments that are often computer integrated and networked and uses computerized information systems. Compares test results to pre-established criteria (reference intervals) and makes decisions regarding the reportability of results, thus exercising independent judgment. Stressful working conditions require the Medical Laboratory Technologist to be tactful, sensitive and able to communicate effectively and professionally. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times as deemed essential by the Medical Laboratory Technologist Code of Conduct.About You We would love to hear from you if you have the following: Must be a graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program or equivalent (as determined by NSRMLS) Candidates must have successfully completed the Medical Laboratory Technologist Examination in all five disciplines Licensure (active) with Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences (NSRMLS) Personal Liability Insurance (PLI) required Ability to work shiftwork (weekends and holidays as required) Willingness to travel when required Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.Hours Long assignment full-time position; 75 hours biweekly Compensation and Benefits $33.20 - $42.47 hourly Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. Exigences

Candidates must be graduates of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program and have successfully completed the national certification examination. Active licensure with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Medical Laboratory Sciences (NSRMLS) and personal liability insurance are mandatory.
