Software Application Engineer Our partner, Prolaz POS is a 5-year-old, privately held, FinTech company based in Zagreb, Croatia. We are building an alternative network of banks connected to our host switching platform that allows merchants to complete real time, card present payment transactions directly with the issuing bank. The result is lower merchant transaction costs by eliminating interchange fees. Our partner is expanding to Bulgaria and will open a new switching hub in Sofia, Bulgaria. We are seeking a hands-on, versatile Software Application Engineer based in Sofia that will implement new banks into our core switching application software ‘PowerZac’. Over time, the Software Application Engineer will become the in-house expert for the PowerZac application. In addition, the Software Application Engineer will support various suppliers and third-party partners with the integration of new EFT POS terminal applications into PowerZac and configure new features as required. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Science or related field Minimum of 3-5 years related working experience with hands-on software application programming, maintenance and support Experience in the Payment Card Industry and EMV brand knowledge (MasterCard/VISA) Experience as Technical Project Lead on various initiatives for both internal and external customer Understanding of EFT POS Device to Host (D2H) and Host to Host (H2H) architecture elements and implementation requirements Experience in developing, documenting and maintaining specifications Software Skills States and Screens methodology with direct configuration experience Perl script, JavaScript, REST, JSON, and SOA programming knowledge and experience PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server database configuration, reporting and programming Binary C, SOAP, XML messaging experience preferred Linux OS basic knowledge and understanding Microsoft Office Personal Skills & Expectations Excellent English verbal and written skills. This will be tested Ability to work independently in remote work environment as part of global team in different time zones Demonstrated thoroughness, attention to detail and strong ownership of work Solid analytical skill and ability to comprehend company business strategies Able to collaborate with senior management, suppliers and technology teams to develop solutions for clients Primary Responsibilities Integrating and configuring new ISO 8583 and BASE24 protocol specifications for various D2H and H2H applications into core application software Implementation of custom code or scripts into PowerZac as required according to Bank specifications. Testing and debug as required Creating specification documents and Scope of Work (SoW) documents for external vendors as required Preparation of technical documentation supporting the maintenance of new Bank links Apply fully tested Bank link and configured switch release version from test environment to production servers Ongoing production software bug and defect resolution Additional Support Duties Interface and coordinate with separate Networking and Server teams to implement new Bank links Coordinate with and support QA team for new test case definition for unique features of Bank link and document accordingly Support end-to-end UAT and regression testing performed by the QA team and debug as required Provide technical support for Functional Specifications definition for each new Bank link based on Project Scope Manage non-routine, new processing and/or change requests as well as short-term tactical and strategic management initiatives Want to hear more about this career opportunity or to directly apply to the vacancy position? Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering and 3-5 years of experience in software programming and the Payment Card Industry. Proficiency in various scripting languages, database configuration, and EMV brand knowledge is required.
