SUPERINTENDENT Job ID: OP-26-153 Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. (NT Power) delivers electricity to almost 50,000 customers within the Town of Newmarket, Town of Midland and Tay Township. Headquartered in Newmarket, Ontario, NT Power has an additional office in Midland, Ontario, approximately one hour north of Newmarket along the shores of Georgian Bay. We are looking for a Superintendent to join our team. Reporting directly to the Manager of Lines and Construction, working in a team environment primarily at our Midland office. POSITION SUMMARY The Superintendent provides leadership and assumes overall responsibility for the Construction and Maintenance of overhead and underground distribution system of Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. This position will oversee the construction, maintenance and use of the overall electrical distribution system, including subdivision developments, planned capital projects, new services, customer driven projects, and transit projects, to ensure technical competence and compliance with the latest standards, policies and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this position will provide leadership and support to all departments to safely and effectively distribute Electricity to all of our customers. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lines and Construction Plans, schedules and organizes the construction of overhead and underground electrical distribution system projects working with forecasts, budget estimates, detailed estimates, designs, liaising with other internal departments, road authorities, municipalities, contractors, regulatory agencies and customers Oversees the construction of new distribution system installations, line relocations, rebuilds, extensions, residential subdivisions, new services and other modifications and maintenance to the existing electrical distribution system Ensures that approved electrical distribution system construction comply with the requirements of Ontario Reg 22.04 as well as corporate standards, provincial, regional and municipal statutes and regulations Oversees and inspects using the Asset Management Program to ensure the useful economic life of company distribution assets Leadership Oversees a team that is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the distribution system which includes the field work planning, accounting, updating and maintaining tools and equipment, used to construct and maintain the distribution system. Provides leadership to and direction to direct reports through coaching, development, performance management and resource planning Manage employees including performance review, discipline, explanation of work procedures and problem resolution. Administrate appropriate sections of collective agreement and assist in resolution of grievances Research and Planning Assists in the preparation and implementation of departmental short and long-term objectives Provides input to annual business plans and budgets and manages department projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion within budget Researches, recommends and implements new or enhanced policies, procedures and processes to improve operational effectiveness QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Red Seal Powerline Technician Trade Certificate, C.E.T., or equivalent 10 years to 15 years of experience in a related field Extensive knowledge of construction and maintenance practices and procedures Familiar working with forecasts and budget estimates Experience in supervising a team in a unionized environment Ability to communicate to direct reports and provide guidance and coaching as required Strong interpersonal skills to effectively and respectfully engage with customers and address customer complaints and concerns Advanced knowledge of Electrical Utility safety rules, Utility Work Protection Code, USF Standards, Electrical Safety Code, Distribution System Code, Ontario Regulation 22/04 and other industry standards and regulations Demonstrated commitment to safety, high ethical and quality standards with adherence to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the IHSA rule book, NT Power’s work practices. Occasional requirement to lift/handle material or moderate weight. Must possess a valid Ontario Class G Driver license with a driving record in good standing for site visits and field checks. A valid DZ license would be an asset. Exigences

Candidates must hold a Red Seal Powerline Technician Trade Certificate or C.E.T. and possess 10 to 15 years of related experience. A valid Ontario Class G Driver license and extensive knowledge of electrical utility safety rules and industry standards are required.
