Utility Locate Supervisor (Field Operations Leader) - Fulltime About the role Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the Locate Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Technicians to safely deliver high-quality utility locating services. The Locate Supervisor ensures work is completed accurately, on schedule, and in a cost-effective manner while maintaining strong customer relationships and developing a high-performing team. Responsibilities * Lead a team of Technicians, ensuring services are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently. * Plan and coordinate daily operations by assigning work, balancing workloads, and contributing to workforce planning and training initiatives. * Oversee performance management including coaching, corrective action, and staffing decisions. * Maintain strong customer relationships by addressing service concerns promptly and ensuring a positive client experience. * Ensure compliance with company policies, client requirements, and all applicable health and safety legislation. * Drive continuous improvement focused on safety, service quality, productivity, and overall operational efficiency. Accountabilities This role is expected to maintain and achieve: * Safe and compliant opera ons, enforcing safety standards, monitoring field activities, and taking correction action. * Opera tional and financial goals through effective supervision of technicians while adhering to organizational procedures. * Strong customer relationships through clear communication, compliance, and timely resolution of concerns. Qualifications and Experience * Post‑secondary education in a discipline relevant to the job function, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. * Supervisory experience in utility locating, underground infrastructure, or construction * Experience performing utility locates or working in underground infrastructure field * Knowledge of and adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements * Ability to build strong working relationships and communicate expectations, feedback, and decisions clearly and professionally across all levels, including with customers. * Employment is contingent on a satisfactory driving record and passing a background check. Success Factors The successful candidate motivates technicians, applies strong locating expertise, maintains high accuracy with minimal damages, and prioritizes safety. They communicate clearly, resolve issues quickly, coaches effectively, manages workloads, delivers strong customer service, and drives continuous improvement. Working Relationships This position involves frequent collaboration with all internal departments to ensure alignment across operations, training, and quality initiatives. It also requires regular interaction with customer damage prevention representatives to support safe practices, resolve inquiries, and promote strong external partnerships.
