Our early years program is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and rooted in inquiry, play, and collaborative exploration. This role offers the opportunity to nurture foundational academic development while honouring different ways of thinking, communicating, and growing. Many students in this class will be neurodivergent; we are looking for an educator who embraces a strength-based, autonomy-supportive approach that affirms the dignity and potential of every learner. What You Bring A view of neurodivergent students as whole, capable individuals, deserving of high expectations and authentic respect A teaching practice grounded in equity, informed by diverse perspectives, identities, and lived experiences The ability to design inclusive experiences that honour a wide range of learning styles and expressions A deep commitment to emotional safety, co-regulation, and trust as essential foundations for the healthy development of the whole child Skill in documentation as a tool for reflection, communication, and connection with families A collaborative spirit and a willingness to partner closely with colleagues, parents, and students Curiosity, creativity, and a readiness to adapt — seeing challenges as a path to innovation and growth Key Responsibilities Create a nurturing classroom that supports exploration, autonomy, and connection Design and facilitate inquiry-based, integrated learning experiences responsive to student interests and developmental needs Provide personalized academic support in early literacy, numeracy, and executive functioning with sensitivity to individual learning profiles Engage in meaningful documentation and maintain open, authentic communication with families Actively contribute to a supportive, innovative professional community Qualifications Formal teacher training or teaching credentials from any country or jurisdiction. (Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification is not required.) Minimum of two years of teaching experience in a classroom or equivalent educational setting Familiarity with the Reggio Emilia philosophy and a strong commitment to ongoing professional learning in emergent, inquiry-based, and child-led approaches Commitment to anti-oppressive, inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming practices Reflective, collaborative, and willing to learn and grow alongside your students Why Join Summit? The educator will lead a JK-Grade 1 classroom using a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach to facilitate inquiry-based and integrated learning. Key duties include providing personalized academic support for neurodivergent students and maintaining authentic communication with families through documentation.

Candidates must have formal teacher training or credentials and a minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience. A strong commitment to anti-oppressive, inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming practices is essential.
