Olymbec is currently seeking a Fire Alarm System Installer (Certified – Code 222) to join our Fire Protection Department. The Fire Alarm System Installer will report to the Fire Alarm Systems Supervisor. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Install, program, inspect, test, and maintain security systems, fire alarm systems, communicators, emergency lighting, and gas detection systems according to current ULC and NBC standards; Produce reports following inspections; Read and understand engineering plans, technical specifications, diagrams, installation manuals, and maintenance manuals; Repair intrusion systems and provide service as needed; Program components and perform system startup; Test the system and its components and conduct tests with the central station and relevant authorities; Identify any anomalies or make recommendations in accordance with current standards; Perform updates and repairs on alarm panels. REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES: DEP in installation and maintenance of security systems (CCQ - Code 222) or a diploma in electronics or equivalent from a recognized college or university, or have documented and proven professional skills or equivalent; College certificate in Fire Prevention – an asset; Knowledge of software related to security system programming; Skilled with new technologies in the industry; Familiarity with Mircom and Bosch systems – considered an asset; Ability to lift equipment and tools up to 70 lbs (31 kg) and climb ladders and scaffolding; Knowledge of the National Building Code, National Fire Code, ULC standards, and their updates.
