Détails du poste

About Omicron Omicron is one of Western Canada’s largest integrated development, design, and construction firms — uniting real estate strategists, architects, interior designers, engineers, and builders as One Omicron. We believe that when all disciplines work together from day one, we deliver a better way of creating buildings: faster decisions, fewer handoffs, stronger outcomes, and a far better experience for clients and partners. Founded in 1998 on the belief that curiosity, courage, respect, and connection drive exceptional work, Omicron continues to challenge convention and innovate within an industry known for outdated processes. Our tech‑forward mindset, collaborative model, and entrepreneurial culture empower our teams to solve complex problems, push boundaries, and deliver meaningful impact in the communities where we work. We spark curiosity. We show courage. We value respect. We create connections. And above all — We are One Omicron. The Opportunity & Team Omicron is looking for a Senior Project Accountant to join our Accounting team and play a key role in strengthening the financial performance of our projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys getting into the details, understanding what is driving project results, and working closely with Project Managers to improve financial outcomes. You will be a key financial partner to our project teams, providing financial oversight, analysis, and support throughout the project lifecycle. The role has a strong focus on cost control, forecasting, timely billing and reporting, and early identification of financial risks and opportunities. What You’ll Do 1. Project Financial Management, Cost Control & Reporting * Provide financial oversight for a portfolio of projects, with a strong focus on cost control, forecasting, profitability, cash flow, and financial accountability. * Maintain and review project budgets, commitments, actual costs, forecasts, cost-to-complete estimates, and projected margins to identify cost overruns, forecast gaps, margin erosion, unrecorded commitments, scope changes, and other emerging financial risks. * Challenge project forecasts and cost-to-complete assumptions to ensure they are complete, realistic, current, and reflect the project team’s best assessment of expected outcomes. * Lead regular project financial reviews with Project Managers, providing meaningful analysis, identifying required corrective actions, and following financial issues through to resolution with clear accountability and timelines. * Support month-end, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including accruals, revenue recognition, KPIs, project dashboards, and other project-related financial reporting requirements 2. Billing, Cash Flow & Working Capital * Manage and oversee the project billing process to ensure invoices are complete, accurate, supported, and issued on a timely basis. * Monitor project billing status, unbilled amounts, holdbacks, approved and pending change orders, and other items affecting project cash flow. * Review accounts receivable and work with Project Managers to drive timely collection of outstanding amounts, escalating issues and ensuring appropriate follow-up where required. * Support project cash flow forecasting and proactively identify issues that may adversely impact project cash flow and working capital. * Ensure subcontractor invoices, holdbacks, commitments, and other project financial obligations are appropriately recorded and managed in accordance with contract terms and company requirements. 3. Project Accounting & Financial Controls * Ensure projects are established and maintained accurately in Omicron’s financial systems, including budgets, cost codes, commitments, contract values, change orders, billing information, and other key financial data, in accordance with accounting policies and applicable Project Delivery System (PDS) standards and controls * Maintain a strong understanding of project contractual requirements and identify financial or commercial issues that may affect project performance * Support project closeout by ensuring outstanding commitments, billing, collections, holdbacks, and other financial matters are resolved on a timely basis Who You Are * You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability, taking responsibility for accurate, timely financial information and following issues through to resolution. * You bring a strong cost-control mindset. You dig into variances, challenge assumptions, ask questions when the numbers don’t make sense, and proactively address issues before they become problems. * You have a strong commercial mindset, balancing attention to detail with an understanding of project profitability, cash flow, and risk. * You are a confident, collaborative communicator who builds trusted relationships and constructively challenges stakeholders when needed. * You are organized and dependable, able to manage multiple priorities while continually looking for ways to improve processes and reporting. What You’ll Bring * 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant project accounting experience. * Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. * Experience in architecture, engineering, construction, design-build, construction management, or another project-based environment is strongly preferred. * Strong knowledge of project accounting, including job costing, forecasting, cost-to-complete, revenue recognition, billing, commitments, change orders, cash flow, and profitability. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong financial systems capability. * Knowledge of construction contracts and applicable lien legislation is an asset. * CPA designation or active CPA candidacy is preferred. If your experience looks different but you believe you can excel, we encourage you to still apply! Why You’ll Love Working Here * One Omicron Culture — A collaborative, people-focused environment built around connection, teamwork, and our integrated One Omicron approach. * Benefits & Well-Being — Enjoy extended health and dental coverage, a Health Care Spending Account, an Employee Assistance Program, and a fitness program. * Growth & Development —You’ll receive 2 paid Education Days each year for external courses, conferences, or webinars, plus an Education Budget that supports job‑related learning such as technical training, leadership development, or accredited designation fees. * Retirement Savings & Matching — We offer a Group RRSP program with up to 3% employer matching. * Comprehensive PTO — Our paid time off program includes 2 personal days and 5 sick days annually, in addition to comprehensive vacation entitlements. * Downtown Location — A centrally located office close to transit, restaurants, shops, and other amenities. In‑Person Work Environment We are a full in‑office organization because our integrated design–build model thrives on in-person connections. When architects, engineers, designers, builders, and project managers collaborate face‑to‑face, we solve problems faster, make better decisions, and maintain the exceptional level of coordination our work demands. That said, we get that life happens. If you need to work from home occasionally for personal reasons (an appointment, school drop‑off, etc.), that’s completely fine — just let your leader know. We trust our teams to manage their time responsibly while staying connected to the work and to each other. Total Compensation The annual base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $120,000, with the starting salary determined based on experience and qualifications. Omicron also offers a comprehensive benefits and total rewards package as outlined above, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus. A Track Record of Excellence Omicron has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies every year since 2009, achieving Platinum Club status in 2015 in recognition of our continued commitment to excellence and long-term success. Our Commitment to Inclusion & Accommodation As a One Omicron team, we believe diverse perspectives strengthen our work. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities and are committed to an inclusive and accessible hiring process. If you require an accommodation at any stage of the recruitment process, please let your People & Culture contact know and we will work with you to provide the support you need.
