SCOPE Reporting to the Director of Policy, Strategy and Communications, the Senior Advisor leads various internal and intergovernmental initiatives that advance ONWA's strategic priorities, with a particular focus on intergovernmental and international affairs. The Senior Advisor provides strategic analysis, advice, guidance, and recommendations to ONWA portfolio teams and Senior Leadership regarding the development and implementation of reports, submissions, advocacy initiatives, research activities, and approaches that address issues impacting Indigenous women and their families. The Senior Advisor works collaboratively across portfolios to provide strategic leadership, policy expertise, research analysis, advocacy support, planning, monitoring, and evaluation to advance ONWA's mandate and organizational priorities QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree in a related field is considered an asset. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in policy, strategic analysis, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination. Demonstrated experience in strategy development, including proposal development, scoping, scaling, critical analysis, options development, advocacy, report writing, and evidence-based decision-making using an Indigenous Gender-Based Analysis lens. Strong research, policy analysis, and strategic policy experience, including environmental scanning and strategic recommendations. Experience preparing briefing materials and providing evidence-based recommendations to senior leadership. Proven project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, establish priorities, implement recommendations, and meet timelines. Experience developing work plans, milestones, and organizational priorities. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including reports, submissions, presentations, briefing materials, and correspondence. Extensive experience developing key messages and strategic communications for senior leadership. Experience building and maintaining partnerships with government, community organizations, Indigenous organizations, and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to identify issues and risks, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve concerns effectively. Strong presentation and advocacy skills with experience engaging executive leadership, community partners, and government stakeholders. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, internet-based systems, and office technology. KNOWLEDGE: Strong understanding of human rights frameworks and mechanisms. Knowledge of political, social, economic, and legislative issues impacting Indigenous women and families. Understanding of ONWA's strategic priorities and mandate. Knowledge of government systems, administration, policy development processes, and intergovernmental relations. Knowledge of not-for-profit organizations, governance, policy development, and performance measurement. Knowledge and understanding of current issues facing Indigenous Women and their families, including Indigenous Gender-Based Violence and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and communities. Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered an asset. Knowledge of principles of Indigenous data sovereignty practices, OCAP© training is an asset. Please know, this is an existing role we are looking to fill. The full salary range for this role is $87,000 - $107,574 ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
