Our total compensation pack includes: Salaried position with starting compensation equivalent to $20–$23 per hour, paid semi-monthly Employer paid health care benefits after 3 months RRSP matching program Employee stock option plan 3 weeks’ paid vacation annually 5 paid flex and 7 paid health days annually In-person events, and team events every second Friday What You’ll Do Reporting to the Production Manager and working as part of a cross-functional team, the Electronics Assembler (Manufacturing Technician 2) is responsible for assembly sophisticated, sensitive, precision medical electronics for incorporation into sensory insoles and related products. This includes: Assemble production components as per work instructions, standard operating procedures, and good manufacturing practices Operate and attend to manual and automated equipment within production Connect component lead wires to printed circuit boards (PCBs) using soldering or other bonding equipment Troubleshoot technical manufacturing issues Align parts using jigs and fixtures for semi-automatic assembly using specialized equipment (example hot-bar bonding) Install finished assemblies in enclosures or plastics Understand and review the product through specified production process, recognizing inconsistencies and following appropriate processes to rectify them Perform on-line go/no-go testing and inspection using measurement instruments, magnifying devices, or other test equipment to ensure assemblies meet production specifications and standards May perform assembly operations under microscope or magnifying device Follow requests for assembly of prototypes based on drawings, sample assemblies or verbal instructions from the Production Manager or engineering Utilize manufacturing software – MES to control workflow and record work progress Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to meet manufacturing demand, product, and quality assurance requirements, while minimizing production costs Liaise with Production Manager, engineers, and others to meet requirements of schedule, quality, and safety Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing records, work instructions and documentation, as required Identify and report product and equipment inconsistencies to the Production Manager Identify and communicate production status, issues, deviations or bottlenecks and general information and escalate issues to Production Manager, as required Support operational initiatives (for example the 5s initiative) by completing administrative tasks including but not limited to inventory, stocking stations, organizing workstations etc. Follow Personal Health Information regulations where applicable Work in compliance with ESD (electrostatic discharge) guidelines Perform other manufacturing related tasks, as assigned Maintain a clean, and safe working environment Perform duties in a manner that is consistent with and committed to upholding the requirements of the quality management system Additionally, due to the ever-changing and sometimes chaotic environment of an early-stage high-tech company, the Manufacturing Technician 2 may assume additional responsibilities, as required. What You’ll Bring High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical certifications in electronics assembly is a plus. 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing including experience assembling small parts, electronic components, and fine detail work Attention to detail and precision in manual assembly tasks. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, soldering under a microscope, PCB rework and other assembly tools Proficiency with 0402 component soldering IPC certification is required. Candidates with an expired IPC certification are also encouraged to apply. Preferred Qualifications Experience with one or more of the following is an asset, but not required: Experience with medical devices, wearable technologies, and/or sensor-related technologies Experience and knowledge in electro-mechanical assemblies and Lean Manufacturing principles and applications Experience working in an ISO 13485 environment The Details Employment Status: Permanent full time. Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Occasional overtime may be required. Work Location: This position is required to work onsite at our Head Office located at Suite 205, 1240 – 20th Avenue S.E.
