Résumé du poste

A well-established Canadian manufacturer of packaged concrete, mortar, and cement products is searching for a General Manager to own the P&L of the entire business and drive margin growth. This company has a loyal customer base across 250+ independent retailers and is looking for a commercial leader and operator who can be on site in the Niagara region. We are searching for a sales leader to lead the next chapter — someone who will drive revenue growth, build structure, and execute a 3–5 year plan designed to innovate around the customer and drive business value. Top-line growth is the primary engine: through deeper penetration of existing accounts, new channel development, and an expanded product suite. Backed by a family office, the company has made significant capital investments in its facility and is well-positioned to grow — both through its current product line and by thinking creatively about what comes next. What You’ll Do In your first 3 months: Be present — on site five days a week, visibly leading the team Assess the organization: people, processes, customers, contracts, supply chain, and production Build trust and raise the standard — earn credibility before you change things Identify the highest-leverage commercial and operational gaps and begin addressing them By 6 months: Complete a thorough analysis of operations and commercial performance; begin executing on the gaps Partner with the board and ownership to build and finalize the 3–5 year strategic plan, with revenue targets at its core Establish clear KPIs, reporting cadence, and accountability structures across the business Drive early wins in customer retention, account growth, cost efficiency, and operational throughput Ongoing: Own the P&L — revenue, margins, cost structure, and EBITDA performance Lead topline growth — own the commercial agenda alongside or in place of the Director of Business Development: key accounts, pricing, channel expansion, and new product launches Lead and develop a close-knit team; upgrade talent where needed Evaluate and pursue growth opportunities: new product lines, channel expansion, geographic reach, and partnerships Represent the business with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders Who You Are You are a commercially-driven operator — someone who has grown revenue and run a business, not just managed a plant. You understand what drives customers to buy and how to build lasting channel relationships. You are also comfortable on a production floor, capable of owning a P&L end-to-end, and disciplined enough to build structure in an entrepreneurial environment. Your background likely includes: A track record of growing revenue — through new customers, new channels, or new products 10–20 years of progressive sales, general management, or operations experience — ideally spanning both commercial and manufacturing functions P&L ownership in a business with $10M–$100M in revenue Experience building structure in a founder-led or entrepreneurial environment Comfort working across procurement, supply chain, production, and commercial functions Experience leading a team through a period of change or professionalization Results-driven with a history of both topline and bottom-line growth You will stand out if you have: Experience managing or building a sales team, or directly owning key account relationships Background in building materials, concrete, packaging, food manufacturing, or adjacent categories Experience developing or executing a multi-year strategic growth plan Exposure to channel development — retail, distribution, or commercial/industrial What We’re Looking For Commercial Drive — hungry to grow the top line; knows how to develop customer relationships, open doors, and close Judgement & Follow-Through — makes hard calls, does what they say, holds others to the same standard Strategic Thinking — prioritizes ruthlessly; knows which customers, products, and initiatives drive the most revenue and value Humble & Hands-On — builds trust through action; does not manage from a distance Grit — willing to dig into the details, push through resistance, and sustain a high pace People Leadership — firm but fair; can inspire a tight-knit team while raising expectations Pragmatic — does the right thing for the business, not the fashionable thing Location & Logistics The role is based full-time at the company’s Niagara-region facility. Five days per week on-site is a requirement — with some flexibility of course — this business is built on presence and relationships. Candidates located within reasonable commuting distance of the Niagara Region, or those willing to relocate, are strongly encouraged to apply. Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Performance bonus: 30–40% of base, tied to business outcomes Future equity / profit participation opportunity for the right candidate Full benefits package
