Oxford Learning Edmonton North Glenora is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for roles in our learning centre for the upcoming school year. If you love working with students, enjoy teaching, and want to help others build their academic confidence, this position is perfect for you. Position Overview: As a Teacher-Tutor at Oxford Learning, you will have the opportunity to work with Elementary students in reading, writing, math and French and/or with High School students in math (through Calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, and English. Our Teacher-Tutors do not have to worry about lesson planning, as all lessons are pre-planned. You will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching! Position Requirements Availability during after-school and evening hours (4:00 pm - 8:00 pm) Commitment through to the end of the school year (June 30th), with the possibility of continuing through the summer if you like! This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. We encourage you to apply if you have some of the following requirements: Education Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field Third-year university students with tutoring experience will be considered Working towards or having a teaching certification is an asset Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum Experience Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding The ability to teach French is also highly desired Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time Responsibilities As an Interactive Coach, you will: Teach up to 3 students at a time (Teach up to 3 students at a time in Elementary grades or up to 2 students at a time in Grades 9 - 12) Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies Complete daily student communication updates and monthly progress reports Maintain a friendly and professional demeanour at all times (create a fun learning environment) Smiles, High-Fives & Happy Students In this role, you will help students develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.
