Résumé du poste
About the role Pangeo Group is building an aluminum die casting and machining plant in Vaughan, Ontario, our first die casting operation in North America. As Controller, you build and own the plant's finance function end to end, and you deliver accurate, timely numbers to group leadership and investors. This is a build role through start-up and ramp. You will lead the plant finance team, partner closely with Operations, and spend real time on the production floor. Responsibilities Close, reporting, and budgeting Own a timely, accurate month-end close, including COGS, inventory movements, and production-cost entries, and reconcile the key balance-sheet accounts. Organize and prepare the plant's annual budget and periodic forecasts. Ensure compliance with company policy, GAAP/ASPE, and local regulations, and keep the books audit-ready. Costing and operational analysis Establish and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead, and keep them current. Run variance analysis (PPV, usage, labor efficiency, absorption), verify BOM and routing accuracy, and drive root cause with Operations. Provide the cost data and analysis that drive operational improvement and measurable savings. Controls, systems, and team Lead the plant finance team, and build the accounting and costing system and the policies behind it. Lead internal audit, strengthen the controls that safeguard company assets, and flag financial risks early. Build the close calendar, standard work, master data, and dashboards, and use AI to take over routine finance work. Own the approval workflows for requisitions, supplier setup, and AP, so cost centers and GL coding are right at entry. What we're looking for Ownership. You own the plant's numbers and make them right the first time. Depth. When a number does not match what you see on the floor, you go find out why. Integrity. No shortcuts. The finance function is held to a high standard. Partnership. You work with Operations to deliver the budget. You are also their guardrail, and you say so when the numbers do not support the plan. Qualifications 5+ years in accounting or finance, including a controller or senior analyst role in manufacturing. New-plant finance set-up a strong asset. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred. Applied knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, month-end close, and variance analysis. Experience with budgeting, internal controls, and audit; solid GAAP/ASPE knowledge. ERP proficiency (SAP preferred); advanced Excel; practical experience using AI tools in finance work an asset. How the role is measured (your KPIs) Month-end close speed and reliability: days to a clean, variance-explained close, with no restatements. Standard-cost accuracy: standard versus actual, and how quickly standards are re-rolled as the plant ramps. Variance closure: PPV, usage, labor efficiency and absorption closed to root cause with Operations. Working capital and inventory: overdue receivables, inventory days, and cycle-count accuracy. Capital discipline: actual versus approved on the phase-one build, with post-investment reviews completed. Audit-readiness and compliance: balance-sheet accounts reconciled monthly, and a clean annual internal audit. Targets are set and reviewed internally each year as the function matures. Equal opportunity & accessibility Pangeo Group is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, family status, or disability.
