Role Description The Hotel Chief Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at Park Lodge Hotel Group properties in Waltham, MA. This role is responsible for overseeing all hotel maintenance operations, including guestroom and public area repairs, preventive maintenance programs, building systems, and life safety equipment. Day-to-day tasks include supervising maintenance staff, prioritizing and assigning work orders, inspecting facilities and equipment, and ensuring timely resolution of engineering-related issues. The Chief Engineer coordinates with hotel management to plan capital improvements, manage vendor relationships, and maintain compliance with local building codes and safety regulations. This position also monitors energy usage, maintains accurate maintenance records, and helps ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for guests and team members. Qualifications Comfort in coordinating network (locks, PC's, IT, phones etc.) system management between brands when necessary. Demonstrated experience in hotel or facilities maintenance management, including overseeing building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. Strong skills in hands-on repairs and troubleshooting for guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, with a focus on preventive maintenance and safety. Ability to lead and coach a maintenance team, including scheduling, training, performance support, and collaboration with other hotel departments. Knowledge of building codes, health and safety regulations, fire and life safety systems, and best practices for risk management in a hospitality environment. Proficiency in using maintenance management systems, work-order tracking tools, and basic office software for documentation and reporting. Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced hotel setting. Relevant technical training or certification (e.g., building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or plumbing); a diploma or degree in engineering or a related field is an asset. Previous experience in a hotel Chief Engineer or senior maintenance leadership role is preferred; ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
