Working within Parkland County Fire Services and reporting to the Station Captain, the Firefighter is a paid-on-call first responder who responds to emergency incidents such as, but not limited to: fires, medical first responses, motor vehicle incidents, alarm calls, hazardous material incidents, water incidents, rescue incidents and rail incidents when available. This position will also participate in regular training, public education, preventative maintenance, and other duties as required. We are recruiting for Fire Stations in Acheson, Parkland Village, Tomahawk, and Wabamun. Successful candidates are required to attend and complete all mandatory orientation and initial recruit training as a condition of joining Parkland County Fire Services. Please ensure you are available for all dates listed below before submitting your application, as alternate dates will not be offered. Attendance on all scheduled dates below is mandatory. Orientation Sessions: December 12, 2026 (0800 to 1630 hrs) Initial Recruit Training: January 6, 2027 (1900 hrs to 2100 hrs) & January 9, 10, 16 & 17, 2027 (0830 to 1630 hrs) Formal recruit training continues throughout the year. Following the mandatory initial training, recruits will have opportunities to continue progressing through the training program based on their individual goals and availability. The ideal candidate for this position will have the following: High-school Diploma At least 18 years of age Professional, self-motivated and have the ability to work independently and in a team environment Friendly, positive, and solutions-oriented in representing the County and be able to remain calm in stressful situations or emergencies Knowledge of current firefighting techniques and tactics, fire department functions and responsibilities is an asset Ability to prepare reports and job-related correspondence, with computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and department management systems and applications Requirements: Live within 10 minutes if you live out east (Acheson or Parkland Village) or 15 minutes if you live out west (Wabamun or Tomahawk) from your nearest Parkland County Fire Station and be able to have regular attendance for training, fire calls and organizational participation Standard First Aid with CPR Certification is required to be uploaded with your application to be considered for next recruitment steps A valid class 5 driver’s license and current, satisfactory commercial driver’s abstract provided upon hire A satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check is required upon hire A Medical Clearance form will be required to be provided upon hire and prior to orientation date Must be legally eligible to work in Canada In addition to an organizational priority for employee well-being, satisfaction and development, including access to an on-site gym, an Employee Family Assistant Program, free onsite counselling services, a social club, a health, safety and wellness committee, and comprehensive training and development opportunities, this position will be eligible for:A Starting Rate of: $17.52 per hour Benefits Including: Comprehensive paid training Group Accident Insurance Access to Employee and Family Assistance Program 4% Vacation paid out each pay period Application Details: Interested candidates are invited to apply online at parklandcounty.com/Careers.
