Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for accounting functions including the efficient and accurate preparation and processing of accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), individualized funding claims, banking, and monthly procedures according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Key Responsibilities for this role include: (but are not limited to): * Accurately prepare and process accounts receivables and accounts payables, reviewing documents and invoices for completeness and accuracy. * Accurately prepare and process payroll transactions. * Accurately prepare and coordinate records for individualized funding claims. * Complete banking and monthly accounting procedures. * Assist with year-end activities such as reconciliations, schedules and reports. * Maintain petty cash and credit union accounts. * Complete reporting activities using accounting software within specified timelines. * Maintain accurate financial records. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications/experience: * Post-secondary Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting or Finance. * 1-2 years’ experience working in accounting using automated accounting systems and current accounting principles and practices. * Use of accounting software such as ACCPAC and MS Office suite effectively. * Ability to apply math and accounting principles and practices. * Ability to accurately maintain accounting records. * Ability to demonstrate initiative, work independently and within a team environment. * Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to set priorities with competing work demands. * Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
