We work with youth and vulnerable adults in the areas of education, employment, housing, substance use and mental health, and youth and family support services. About the Program The Vancouver Housing program provides 1-1 case management and support diverse youth residing in our co-ed Semi Independent Living homes, and provides individualized housing supports to vulnerable youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Vancouver area, such as housing search support, moving assistance, landlord advocacy, mediation and liaising with social workers to support youth to find, secure and move in to safe and affordable housing. Hours & Conditions of Work * Auxiliary (casual) * This position is part of the regional Youth Services team and may be called upon to support other programs and services in their day to day activities. Position Summary Wage Grid 13 The Transitional Housing Worker will provide 1-1 case management and support diverse youth residing in our co-ed Semi Independent Living homes. Staff will provide one-on-one support, life skills and individualized goals as well as group activities such as house meetings and house clean. This position involves developing relationships with youth as well as liaising with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and community staff. The Workers provide housing search support, moving assistance, landlord advocacy, mediation and liaise with social workers to support youth to find, secure and move in to safe and affordable housing. Responsibilities * Develops supportive and engaging relationships with youth, developing individualized service plans in consultation with youth participants * Assists youth in maintaining program expectations such as attending house meetings, maintaining house cleanliness, supporting participants to attend school, work or volunteer opportunities and maintaining connection with their other support workers * Maintains accurate case notes, monitoring youth progress, engagement and participation in the program * Performs other duties such as moving support, collection of rent, and other administrative tasks may be required. * Provides housing and life skills supports to youth residing in our Semi-independent living homes program * Provides housing search support, moving assistance, landlord advocacy, mediation and liaise with social workers to support youth to find, secure and move in to safe and affordable housing * Participates and engage in a collaborative and effective staff team * Communicates effectively with coworkers and staff, and participate in team efforts * Participates in professional development and training Competencies & Knowledge * Sound understanding of tenant and landlord rights * Sound understanding of housing related documentation * A thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation * Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics * Effective team collaboration skills * Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants * Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills * Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple, often conflicting priorities What We Offer * Equitable & Transparent Base Pay – we are a Certified Living Wage Employer [https://www.livingwageforfamilies.ca/living_wage_employers] * Generous paid vacation, personal and sick time; additional paid time off for life events * Additional paid holidays (ex.
