As an experienced Senior Estimator within Pomerleau’s Civil & Infrastructure division, you will play a key role at the heart of the Earthworks business unit. You will support the growth of both new and ongoing projects by challenging industry standards through your expertise and strong technical knowledge. You will be involved in large-scale projects, ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion, across a diverse range of areas of expertise, including sewer and water mains, wind farms, dams, and roadworks, as well as other projects that may be delivered in synergy with the organization’s various business units. Working closely with our proposal team and a wide range of clients, you will actively contribute to securing competitive bids and ensuring the overall success of projects. What you will do Perform a quantitative evaluation of materials and manpower required for the work deemed decisive and verify the quantities given by the estimators. Prepare the summary of quantities according to the plans and specs and by sorting them according to the standardized sections and functions of the trades involved. Identify project-specific prices related to key items including labor, equipment and materials. Grow and maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve project goals and vision. Thoroughly review all received amounts from suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring their alignment with bid documents during compilation and bid closings. Take part in and/or coordinate the various parties involved in the estimation of a design-build project. Support in the search for new contacts subcontractors, suppliers, and work providers. Suggest and quantify alternatives to bid documents to reduce construction costs of bid projects. Act as a role model and mentor for your junior team members, providing coaching and guidance on best practices and trade secrets. This role could be for you if you have A University Degree or College Diploma in Construction project estimation or a combination of education and industry experience. 8+ years’ relevant experience in estimating in the ICI construction industry. Strong knowledge of excavation and formwork. Previous experience leading and mentoring junior team members. Strong experience working with estimation software.
