SENIOR PLANNER Land use and community planning within our Civil practice Location: Vancouver, Surrey, Kelowna or Penticton, BC or Peterborough, ON About the opportunity PRI is a multidisciplinary engineering and natural sciences consulting firm. We are seeking a Senior Planner, a Registered Professional Planner, to join our Civil practice in the Okanagan. This is a senior land use and community planning role for someone who thrives on moving land development projects through the approvals process and enjoys working hand in hand with civil engineers and surveyors to take projects from concept to entitlement. You will lead the planning and approvals side of the firm's land development and municipal work, act as the primary liaison with municipalities and approving authorities, and be a senior planning resource the team relies on. You will also contribute your planning and spatial-analysis expertise to the firm's geospatial work, in areas such as land suitability, wildfire and hazard planning, and agricultural land planning, in collaboration with our GIS & Geomatics team. Based in Kelowna or Penticton, the role reports to the Civil Practice Lead. What you'll do • Lead land use and community planning on land development and municipal projects, from concept through approval. • Prepare and manage OCP and zoning amendments, development and variance permits, subdivision applications, and Agricultural Land Reserve submissions. • Act as primary liaison with municipal and regional district planning staff, councils, and approving officers, and represent projects at public hearings and open houses. • Prepare planning rationale reports, land use analyses, and site feasibility and constraint assessments. • Work closely with civil engineers and surveyors to align approvals with servicing, grading, and subdivision design. • Contribute planning and spatial-analysis expertise to geospatial work, including land suitability and wildfire, hazard, and agricultural land planning, with the GIS & Geomatics team. • Support engagement with First Nations on land and development matters, and mentor junior planners as the capability grows. What you bring Required • Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with PIBC and membership with CIP (MCIP), or eligibility to obtain these designations. • Bachelor's or master's degree in Planning, Geography, or a related field. • Minimum 7 years of land use and community planning experience, in consulting, local government, or both. • Demonstrated experience managing development applications through approval, including OCP and zoning amendments, development permits, and subdivision. • Strong knowledge of BC planning frameworks, including the Local Government Act and the Agricultural Land Reserve. • Comfort using GIS for mapping and land-suitability or constraint analysis. • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel across the region. Preferred • Familiarity with Okanagan and BC Interior municipalities and regional districts. • Experience working alongside civil engineering and survey teams, and with wildfire, hazard, or agricultural land planning. • Stronger GIS or geospatial-analysis skills (ArcGIS Pro, spatial suitability or hazard analysis), and experience mentoring junior staff. Exigences

Requires a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation and a bachelor's or master's degree in Planning or Geography. Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in land use planning and strong knowledge of BC planning frameworks.
