Role Description This full-time hybrid role is based in Québec, QC, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility. The Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) Management Specialist will design, implement, and monitor H₂S safety programs in industrial and field environments. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, inspecting work sites, calibrating and maintaining gas detection equipment, and developing emergency response plans for H₂S incidents. The role involves training workers and supervisors on H₂S awareness, safe work procedures, and use of personal protective equipment and monitoring devices. The specialist will also review incident reports, ensure compliance with relevant Canadian and local regulations, collaborate with operations and health and safety teams, and prepare concise documentation and reports on H₂S exposure control measures. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of hydrogen sulfide properties, exposure risks, and control methods, including gas detection, ventilation, and PPE. Experience in developing and implementing safety programs, risk assessments, and emergency response plans in industrial or field environments. Ability to conduct site inspections, equipment checks, and monitoring activities, with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Strong communication skills for delivering training, safety briefings, and clear written reports in English and, ideally, French. Familiarity with Canadian and Québec occupational health and safety regulations and standards related to hazardous gases. Relevant technical or scientific background (e.g., occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science) through education or equivalent experience. Certification in health and safety (e.g., OHS or industrial hygiene certifications) and prior experience in oil and gas, wastewater, chemical, or similar sectors are considered assets. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, adapt to changing field conditions, and travel on-site as required.
