POSTING: HEU 145H26 STATUS: Temporary Full Time CLASSIFICATION: Maintenance Supervisor I (13401); Maintenance Worker III (13103); Transportation Attendant I (19001) WORK AREA: Central City Lodge and Cooper Place; PCN 02037025007 HOURS: 0800-1600 Monday - Friday (1.0 FTE, 75 biweekly hours) DAYS OFF: Saturday & Sunday SALARY: Grid 28 / $34.32 hourly JOB SUMMARY: Providence Living is a non-profit Catholic-sponsored health care organization focused on long-term care, assisted living, housing, and other community services to support seniors and their family members. We are committed to re-imagining the experience of seniors, especially those living with dementia, and to creating communities and fostering a culture where seniors are empowered to make decisions that affect their quality of life. Reporting to the Director, Building Services, this position supervises the daily operations of building services and staff at assigned sites, including overseeing the work of outside contractors, to ensure the required standards are maintained. Monitors the preventative maintenance program at assigned sites, maintaining related maintenance documentation and records. Participates in and supports committees such as occupational health and safety and quality assurance. Also performs maintenance and repair duties to buildings, grounds and equipment, and performs related administrative duties. Travel between work sites as required. All staff have a part to play in preventing adverse events and in promoting safety for patients and staff by being aware of and adhering to all policies and procedures including promptly reporting any risks or safety concerns relating to patient or staff safety. QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, and Experience Grade 12 plus five (5) years’ recent, related experience including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Class 5 vehicle license is required. Skills and Abilities * Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. * Ability to deal with others effectively. * Ability to supervise. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings and specifications. * Ability to organize work. * Ability to operate related equipment. * Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. DUTIES 1. Supervises the daily operations of building services and staff at assigned sites, to ensure the required standards are maintained by performing such duties as scheduling and coordinating work assignments and updating and processing changes in accordance with scheduling procedures, reviewing work, evaluating employee performance and determining related training and orientation needs. 2. Reviews work requests and consults with user departments regarding specifications and other requirements. Estimates material and labour requirements and costs, and makes budget recommendations for the area. 3. Oversees the work of outside contractors to ensure adherence to specifications and to facility requirements. 4. Maintains building components such as ceilings, doors, locks, flashings, roof and baseboards, or repairs parts. 5. Maintains building systems such as electrical, heating, air conditioning, refrigerator and fire alarm by testing equipment, making adjustments, and replacing component parts. 6. Maintains equipment such wheelchairs, sterilizers, beds, and furniture by replacing bearings, or adjusting and/or repairing components. 7. Maintains inventory of parts by completing regular checks and restocking upon arrival of parts. Identifies for purchase the parts required for specific projects and equipment. 8. Monitors the preventative maintenance program at assigned sites, and performs scheduled preventative maintenance work on equipment and systems by inspecting, testing, adjusting, replacing parts, lubricating, and cleaning. 9. Maintains related maintenance documentation and records. Reviews standards and procedures to provide input into the development of maintenance policies and adherence to safety practices. 10. Verifies that equipment, materials and projects confirm with applicable standards, procedures and by-laws. 11. Attends various meetings, and participates in and supports committees such as occupational health and safety, and quality assurance. Attends staff in-service, continuing education programs, and approved work-related conferences and seminars as required. 12. Performs maintenance work as required including clearing snow from walkways and building entrances; replacing plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets; repairing plumbing fixtures such as water supply lines and waste lines; applying paint and other finishes by brush, roller and/or spray; and removing and replacing coverings such as tiles, linoleum and carpets. 13. Travels between work sites as required. 14. Performs other related duties as assigned. This posting will remain open until successfully filled.
