Company Description Qidni Labs Inc. is a medical device company focused on revolutionizing dialysis technology for patients with kidney failure. The technology promises to miniaturize the dialysis machine and reduce the amount of fluid required for treatment, making life-sustaining treatment more accessible globally. Enhancing the patient experience and improving quality of care is the top priority. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role located in Kitchener, ON. The ideal candidates will have experience in the design and development of mechanical systems and be able to create detailed drawings and 3D models for various projects. Key responsibilities include developing mechanical designs for systems, sub-assemblies and parts along with drawings and detailed specifications, analyzing design requirements, developing detailed specifications, creating 3D models of components and assemblies, and creating drawings for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of components and systems. Demonstrable experience level on the following will be used during selection process: Design-for-manufacturing (DFM) BOM construction Cross-collaboration with ID, EE, SWE, Mfg Eng, Purchasing, Marketing and PMs Injection molding design and tooling techniques, manufacturing challenges, typical defects and on-site experience working with suppliers to bring up parts Similar exposure to: Two-shot IM, Insert molding, Vacuum forming, Blow molding, Composite materials manufacturing, LSR, Compression molding, Sheetmetal, Die casting, CNC machining, Coating processes (protective, decorative, functional) Rapid prototyping processes and techniques Materials selection GD&T Cost reductions initiatives Weight savings initiatives FEA simulations (Structural, Thermal, Fluids, etc.) Other desired qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Minimum 3 years experience in a mechanical engineering role Experience designing electromechanical or fluid-handling systems Comfortable with prototyping tools, machining, and hands-on build/test work Organized, resourceful, and proactive in solving design challenges Familiarity with medical device regulations, ISO 13485, or design controls is preferred
