This individual will assist in managing end-to-end payroll for 2,000+ employees across Canada, ensuring accurate processing, payroll compliance, CRA remittances, T4s, ROEs, and complex payroll transactions including garnishments, retroactive adjustments, off-cycle payments, and terminations. Responsibilities Payroll Processing & Compliance Manage end-to-end Hourly & Salaried Canadian payroll processing for approximately 2,000 employees across multiple provinces, ensuring accurate and timely pay runs Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation including CRA remittances, T4 preparation, year-end filings, and Records of Employment (ROEs) Process garnishments, statutory deductions, off-cycle payrolls, retroactive payments, and termination calculations Payroll Accounting & GL Prepare and review payroll journal entries and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger Perform payroll account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts Partner with Finance and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and support month-end and year-end close processes Process payroll related payments such as invoices, setting up pre-authorized debit arrangements and creation of cheques as needed Systems & Technology Process and maintain payroll data within Workday, ensuring data integrity across the platform Coordinate with third-party vendors for Canadian payroll, reviewing outputs and resolving discrepancies Contribute to Workday optimization and actively embrace AI-enabled tools and process automation initiatives Contributing and helping maintain QuadReal’s payroll SharePoint that is forward facing to the company Continuous Improvement & Collaboration Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, improve controls, and enhance the employee experience Adapt readily to business changes including acquisitions, organizational restructuring, and new project assignments Maintain payroll documentation and SOPs to support a strong internal control environment Experience & Qualifications At least 3 years of hands-on, full-cycle Canadian payroll experience in a mid-to-large organization Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or progress toward certification through the National Payroll Institute Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation across multiple provinces Demonstrated experience with payroll accounting - GL reconciliation, journal entry preparation, and collaboration with Finance teams Proficiency with Workday or Workday payroll equivalent and HCM technology High attention to detail with a track record of accuracy in high-volume payroll environments Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities Collaborative by nature, with clear and confident communication across teams and levels Genuine comfort with change in systems, structure, and scope and an open mindset toward AI and emerging technologies. The following skills and experience would be considered strong assets: Experience with Workday Payroll Exposure to international payroll processing and/or global mobility programs Experience in real estate, property management, or a portfolio-driven business Familiarity with multi-entity or multi-province payroll environments The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $75,000-$85,000. This job posting is for a newly created role within our organization.
