Product Owner – Data Products Contract Length: Location: Calgary, Alberta Raise is currently hiring a Product Owner – Data Products (AI Governance / Build Stream) on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is a major Canadian airline. Description The Product Owner – Data Products in this role will join our clients AI Governance and Data Build work stream. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping the vision, strategy, and delivery of critical operational data products and their underlying data stores. You will apply rigorous product management principles to data, ensuring clear ownership, high service expectations, and measurable business outcomes. Acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical engineering teams, you will ensure our operational data capabilities effectively support core business processes, reporting, integrations, and advanced AI use cases. Responsibilities Strategy & Roadmap Ownership: Define and own the vision, roadmap, and strategy for operational data products and underlying data stores, establishing clear consumer boundaries, ownership guidelines, and success measures. Performance & Success Metrics: Define and monitor key product success metrics—including data quality, availability, latency, user adoption, and downstream business impact—to continuously optimize data capabilities. Requirements & Backlog Management: Gather, analyze, and translate complex business requirements into actionable product outcomes, roadmap priorities, and backlog decisions while balancing business value, technical sustainability, and scalability. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with data engineers, enterprise architecture, governance, and enablement teams to evolve operational data models and deliver scalable solutions aligned with enterprise standards and reusable integration patterns. Data Contracts & Governance: Establish and maintain data contracts, schema evolution practices, and robust stewardship of operational data entities alongside upstream source system owners and downstream consumers. Service Level Standards: Define operational service expectations for data products, covering availability, freshness, reliability, and recovery standards to ensure enterprise-grade quality and regulatory compliance. AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement: Enable trusted, self-service access to operational data, ensuring data products are securely structured to support advanced analytics, machine learning models, and emerging AI initiatives. Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience in product management, data product ownership, or technical data management roles within enterprise environments. Demonstrated hands-on experience working within modern cloud data ecosystems (Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks). Proven track record of defining data operating models, data schemas, and governance frameworks that accelerate delivery and embed data trust. Experience collaborating with technical engineering, architecture, and compliance teams in agile delivery environments. Skills & Competencies Deep understanding of data modeling principles, schema design, and data pipeline architecture. Strong grasp of data governance concepts, data contracts, quality frameworks, and lifecycle management. Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and vice versa. Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in defining metrics, tracking KPIs, and making data-driven product decisions. Education and Certifications Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related technical field. Preferred Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), or relevant cloud data certifications (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate, Snowflake SnowPro Core).
