THE OPPORTUNITY Ram Iron & Metal is looking for a talented and driven Metal Inspector / Grader to join our Team. The Metal Inspector/Grader, under the direction of the Supervisor, Ferrous will be responsible for overseeing the inspection, grading, sorting, and processing of ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials. OVERVIEW The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The Metal Inspector/Grader is expected to have the ability to learn and assist in several aspects of our daily operations such as scrap inspections, sorting, and processing of materials, operating mobile equipment, and generally is in daily communications with our drivers, colleagues, contractors, and peddlers. RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES * Grade and inspect all incoming loads. * Sort and process of ferrous and/or non-ferrous scrap metals. * Use tablet or hand-held device to input material grades. * Ensure incoming material meets conformities. * Remove all non-confirming material. * Direct traffic to ensure safe movement for personnel in the yard. * Process materials by breaking them down by commodity. * Provide exceptional customer service to peddlers and contractors. * Ensure clear roadways and housekeeping of the yard. * Other duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listing above. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE * Knowledge of metal materials is an asset. * Experience with a forklift (valid forklift certification on Counterbalance). * Experience with front-end loaders is an asset. * Prior experience and comfort working outdoors. There may be frequent interruptions, and from time to time be noisy. The employee must have knowledge of how to manage their own personal safety under these conditions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to be able to lift up to and including 50lbs, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and reach with arms/hands. Walking, walking up / down stairs, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items is occasionally required.
