POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a senior Quality Engineering Specialist to join our AS9100-certified composite manufacturing facility. This is a dual-mandate role: you will own day-to-day quality execution across inspection, supplier quality, nonconformance, and customer documentation — while simultaneously maintaining and improving the underlying systems that support consistent, scalable performance. Our quality processes exist and we maintain certification, but we are candid that execution consistency is an area of active improvement. The right candidate has done this before — they understand how to diagnose where a process can be improved, design practical fixes, and drive adoption on the shop floor without losing sight of day-to-day delivery. This is not a compliance-only role; it requires the credibility and drive of someone who builds things that last. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: QMS Development & Document Control Assess current QMS documentation for gaps, redundancy and process adherence Author, revise, and standardize procedures, work instructions and forms to reflect actual best practice Drive adoption of documented processes through training, visual aids, and floor-level engagement Support AS9100 Rev D compliance and readiness for surveillance and certification audits Inspection & Metrology Workflows Design and implement standardized inspection plans, traveler checkpoints, and in-process verification routines Develop clear, repeatable work instructions for metrology equipment use (Romer arm, Leica laser tracker) Establish gauge management, calibration recall, and MSA (Measurement System Analysis) practices Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to interpret drawings and validate inspection methodology Identify inspection bottlenecks and design workflow improvements to reduce escapes and rework CAPA & Nonconformance Management Mature the NCR process from initiation through disposition, root cause analysis, and verified closure Implement structured CAPA methodology (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) with effectiveness review built in Build quality trend reporting to surface systemic issues before they become escapes or audit findings Ensure NCR/CAPA records meet AS9100 and customer requirements for traceability and timeliness Train and coach production staff on nonconformance identification and proper escalation Supplier Quality Program Develop and formalize the supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance monitoring program Create standardized incoming inspection criteria and acceptance criteria by commodity or risk level Issue SCARs with clear expectations and drive suppliers to effective, verified corrective action Maintain and expand the Approved Supplier List (ASL) with current qualification status and risk ratings Conduct supplier audits and assess process capability at critical or high-risk sources First Article Inspection (FAI) Lead and execute First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) per AS9102 across new and revised part numbers Coordinate dimensional, material, and functional data packages with engineering and manufacturing Manage FAI documentation from planning through customer submission and approval Customer-Facing Quality Serve as primary quality contact for customer Quality Representatives, concessions, and corrective action requests Prepare and submit quality data packages, FAI documentation, and 8D/CAPA responses Participate in customer source inspections and quality reviews POSITION REQUIREMENTS Required 7+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace or high-complexity composite/precision manufacturing Demonstrated experience building or significantly maturing quality systems — not just maintaining them Hands-on experience with Romer arm, laser tracker, or comparable metrology equipment Proficiency with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and development of inspection plans from engineering drawings AS9100 internal auditor certification or equivalent formal training Experience leading structured root cause analysis and CAPA processes through verified effectiveness Familiarity with E2 or comparable ERP/MRP quality modules for NCR, inspection, and traceability Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with direct customer and supplier engagement Demonstrated ability to influence behaviour and process adoption across a production floor Preferred NADCAP familiarity (composites, NDT, or chemical processing) Experience with composite structures — infusion, layup, autoclave, or secondary bonding processes CQE (ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) or equivalent designation Exposure to Polyworks Inspector or similar dimensional metrology software Experience with MSA, SPC, or process capability studies in a low-volume / high-mix environment In Office Position Mon-Friday (40h/week full time)
