Director of Underwriting, Manufacturing

The Opportunity We are seeking an entrepreneurial underwriting leader to carve out, own, and scale a dedicated, multi-million-dollar manufacturing vertical for an agile Canadian branch of a major global P&C carrier. This is a highly visible, strategic mandate. You will have the financial backing and stability of a global powerhouse, combined with the autonomy to put your personal stamp on the business and build a team from the ground up. Key Responsibilities Take ownership of an established, profitable book of manufacturing business and carve it out into a dedicated, high-growth vertical. Lead the national manufacturing underwriting and distribution strategy. Build, mentor, and lead a dedicated team of underwriting specialists. Leverage your active broker network to expand trading partnerships and drive new business in the manufacturing sector. Coordinate with product experts across other lines (Property, GL, E&O) to cross-sell and offer a comprehensive market proposition. Requirements Experience: 5+ years of P&C underwriting experience specifically within the manufacturing sector on the carrier side. Leadership: Demonstrated people management, mentoring, and/or portfolio management. Network: A strong, active pipeline and established relationships with key brokers nationally, with a heavy emphasis on the Ontario market. Mindset: Entrepreneurial, commercially driven, and straightforward. We need a leader who isn't afraid to push back on strategy to achieve growth.
