Job Code : RCI-ROCG-41244 Job Title: Backend Software Engineer Location: FULLY REMOTE Duration: 12 Month extension possible based on needs and performance Minimum Salary: $55.00 Per Hourly CAD Maximum Salary: $60.00 Per Hourly CAD Description: As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you are joining a passionate software engineering team to build sequencing products to change patients' lives. You will help build highly scalable, reliable, and secure cloud based software systems. Ultimately, the software you produce will impact patient care globally. Your Opportunity Architect, implement, and rigorously test backend APIs, software features, and product infrastructure. Leverage serverless computing, distributed platforms, and cloud technologies to build robust solutions. Utilize AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate the design, implementation, and optimization of software architecture and code. Write clean, maintainable code, comprehensive documentation, and robust automated tests. Research new tools, testing processes, and technologies to continuously improve our development lifecycle. Who you are 6+ years of hands-on software development experience. B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field. Highly proficient in Java, Spring Boot, and building REST APIs for software products. Experience with microservices architecture and development including associated tools. Familiarity with relational databases like Postgres SQL and MySQL. Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and work with Agile/Lean practices and scalable architecture. Act as an effective communicator who can navigate conflict, influence project outcomes, and support the team through strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and continuous feedback. Preferred Hands-on experience building out cloud solutions specifically using AWS. Frontend development experience, allowing you to comfortably step into full-stack tasks. A background in life sciences, medical devices, or bioinformatics. Experience developing regulated products under strict design controls. Relocation benefits are not available for this position.

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will architect, implement, and rigorously test backend APIs and software features. You will leverage cloud technologies to build scalable and secure software systems that impact patient care globally.

Candidates should have 6+ years of software development experience and a degree in Computer Science or a related field. Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs is required, along with familiarity with microservices and relational databases.
