Our client is a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm based in British Columbia, providing services across civil, structural, building envelope, marine, and transportation infrastructure. The Opportunity Our client is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer with approximately 5–10 years of professional engineering experience in the bridge and/or marine structural engineering sector. This role is well suited to an engineer with a strong technical foundation who enjoys a combination of structural design, field involvement, and project engineering. Experience with construction projects and working directly with clients and contractors would be an asset. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced structural engineers, benefiting from mentorship while taking increasing ownership of projects and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. Key Responsibilities Projects will vary in size and complexity and may include: Structural assessment and condition reporting for existing infrastructure. Structural design for new construction and rehabilitation projects. Design involving steel, concrete, and timber structures. Field reviews, inspections, and construction-related site work. Supporting and mentoring junior members of the design team. Project engineering, coordination, and management of design activities. Working collaboratively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Participating in engineering reviews of construction work to confirm general conformity with contract and design documents. Qualifications & Experience Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC, or eligible for registration. Approximately 5–10 years of relevant professional engineering experience. Strong experience designing structures using steel, concrete, and timber. Background in bridge and/or marine structural engineering is strongly preferred. Experience with construction projects and site-based engineering activities. Familiarity with applicable British Columbia codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Comfortable working in a fast-paced consulting environment and managing multiple priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with a variety of public and private sector clients. Willingness to expand technical capabilities and take on increasing responsibility. A valid Class 5 BC driver's licence and the ability to travel to project sites throughout British Columbia. Comfortable attending active construction sites as required.
